As Paul pondered on what he wrote, and he was going through a breakup himself, realizing that Linda was "the one" for him - sort of an adult version of the meaning of the song. So he wisely  changed Jules to Jude to "paint the picture" with more definition. Same concept as realist artist Scott Jacobs has for his painting projects.  St Jude is the Catholic Patron Saint of Lost Causes and more.... What does that tell us about his song writing?
